(Isa. 29:4) Does this passage predict the discovery of the Book of Mormon?

CLAIM: Isaiah writes, “And you will be brought low; from the earth you shall speak, and from the dust your speech will be bowed down; your voice shall come from the ground like the voice of a ghost, and from the dust your speech shall whisper” (Isa. 29:4 ESV). Mormon apologists argue that this passage predicts the Book of Mormon being discovered in the ground. Is this the case?

RESPONSE: This passage does not predict the Book of Mormon. Instead, in context, it refers to the people in Jerusalem dying as they have been pummeled by Sennacherib, and they are brought down to the ground and killed. This passage was literally fulfilled during Sennacherib’s siege of Jerusalem in 701 BC.
